Found Objects. Lighting.

"White/Black" Chandelier is a quirky and whimsical limited edition chandelier designed by Winnie Lui for Innermost. Liu, a jewelry designer turned lighting designer, cleverly introduced her first lighting creation called "White/Black". Her spectacular chandelier is a melange of objets trouvés meeting bling and trash. All are made equal to treasure through the application of uniform color.

The spectacular design is made from unique pieces sourced to create the elegant limited edition of 50 individual White chandeliers and 50 individual Black chandeliers. This is a lamp that will inspire hours of conversation. However, it needs just the right place to hang in order to appreciate it's dynamic qualities.

Bunk Beds.

Not only are these Bunk Beds from Resource Furniture attractive, they are a major space saver. The "Lollipop IN" Space Saving System is a wall bunk bed system that includes a completely integrated ladder which also functions as a bed support, a safety rail for the top bunk and a storage shelf above the top bunk. The system is also available with an optional fold-out desk mounted to the front of the lower bunk and optional folding headboards. These would be very cool in a child's room or even a guest room, small den, or office, where some extra sleeping space might come in handy.

Liquid Light.

I like the acute industrial appeal and whimsical nature of these light fixtures from Liquid Light. These custom built table, wall and pendant lamps experiment with the fusion of art, function and environmental consciousness. Beautiful LED lights, recycled plumbing and hardware combine effortlessly to illuminate hand sculpted glass drops. As an added benefit, 5% of all Liquid Light purchases go towards the education and action on global water justice issues.

Light Table Bench.

Designed by Pablo Pardo, The 'Light Table Bench 52' is available exclusively from Design Within Reach. This dimmable light table bench is easily adaptable to any setting. It would look great in an entryway or lounge. Objects placed on the Light Table Bench are softly illuminated with indirect light, which is especially effective for transparent or translucent objects. Used in multiples and placed in a row, the benches create a continuous runway of light. The work of Pablo Pardo and his San Francisco-based studio is widely recognized for creating unique, simple items that combine technical sensibilities with the most appropriate materials. For the Light Table Bench, these materials include an acrylic white translucent top and clear support ends.

"I am Love"

Last weekend I had the pleasure of seeing Luca Guadagnino's film, "I am Love". The film stars Tilda Swinton, whose performance is simply flawless. What struck me most about the film was the beautiful set design, the Italian landscape, the impeccable acting, and Mr. Guadagnino's direction. It is a visually stunning film.

Mixed Fruit and Vegetables.

No. They are not real. But, they are certainly very realistic! The porcelain fruit and vegetable collection by Penkridge Ceramics for Sweet Bella, is probably the most lovely interpretation of actual fruits and vegetables that I have come across. According to Sweet Bella, these works of art are "influenced by tromp-l’oeil and early still life paintings, this collection of ‘super real’ porcelain fruit and vegetables has been produced since 1984 by Penkridge Ceramics, a small workshop close to Birmingham, England. Each piece is made with phenomenal attention to detail from hand-carved cane stems to the individually applied porcelain spikes on the horse chestnuts. The leaves are created in pewter by sculptor Alan Ballantyne. The finish of the monochrome metallics is made from real gold and silver. A sprinkling of these pieces would look just stunning in the kitchen or dining room.
