Calvin Klein Furniture Collection

The Calvin Klein Furniture Collection will debut January 2009. The total collection consists of two
different collections. The first of which will be available at Macy's. This collection consists of three groups - City, Weekend and Destination – all with a wood finish of walnut, whitewash and teak, respectively.

The other is The Curator collection by Calvin Klein Home, a ‘highly sophisticated sculptural offering’ that offers a slightly higher quality and detail than the Macy’s range. Speaking about both collections, Calvin Klein Home's Creative Director, Amy Mellen, points out that none of the furniture is ‘cold and modern, so you can mix it with anything you have.' Pictured, above and below, are a few pieces from the collections.

The DOMINO Book of Decorating.

Last night, Megan and I attended the book signing celebration for the new Domino Book of Decorating at the Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams store on Fourteenth Street, NW, Washington, DC. On hand for the festivities was one of the book's authors, Domino Magazine Style Director, Dara Caponigro, as well as furniture designer and store owner, Mitchell Gold.

The book, like the magazine, cracks the code to creating a beautiful home, bringing together inspiring rooms, how-to advice and insiders' secrets from today's premier taste makers in an indispensable style manual. The editors take readers room by room, tapping the best ideas from Domino magazine and culling insights from their own experiences. With an eye to making design accessible and exciting, this book demystifies the decorating process and provides the tools for making spaces that are personal, functional and fabulous. This very attractive book is available for purchase by clicking here.
Purchase of the book also includes a one-year subscription to the magazine!

Ercol Furniture's solid-ash version features turned construction, hand-joined details, and natural finishes that use no harsh chemicals and produce minimal waste. A clear-lacquer finish is offered along with five colors. Upholster it in Marimekko's Kevätjuhla bovine printed cotton. ID-Digest. Spotlight on Design.

This is the article the kind folks at ID-Digest put together. My thanks to them for the compliment!

“Urban Sophistication” best describes the fresh, unique and distinctive style of Patrick J. Baglino, Jr. ASID. His boutique, located in the trendy and vibrant Dupont Circle section of Washington, D.C., showcases his combination of innovative, eclectic and traditional stylings arranged with a contemporary twist. Having established his boutique in March 1998, Patrick has tastefully provided functional and beautiful interior design projects which reflect the needs and lifestyles of his clients for over a decade.
It is with great pleasure that we present some photographs of the work of Patrick Baglino Jr. This hand selected group presented by ID-Digest is a small sampling of the interiors that have been created specifically for his clientele.

Patrick has been featured many times in publications including magazines such as House Beautiful and in DC Modern Luxury.

Patrick is not only a gifted interior designer, but also a very talented writer. We thought it would be most appropriate to let him tell his story. His website listed below leads you directly to his world, filled with exacting detail and urbanity.

Please also take the time to read his blog. Not only is his skill as a designer impeccable but his writing will captivate your attention to the minut detail. We feel confident that you will select him as your favorite interior designer to keep you in tune with the ever changing world of urban design."

Needlepoint. Brigid Berlin.

How about a Most Excellent $15,000.00 Brigid Berlin needlepoint pillow as a gift this holiday season?

From the John McWhinnie website, "Brigid Berlin has turned to the traditionally ladylike craft of needlepoint to create work that continues to challenge the social status quo, defy convention, and pose questions about taste and society. An avid consumer of tabloid newspapers, the “popular press” as it’s referred to in Britain, she translates front page headline broadsheets into genteel features of interior décor. Her subjects are typically crude, salacious paper-selling press announcements in origin designed to appall, shock, and titillate viewers. The meticulously executed needlepoint pieces transform the daily ghastliness of news occurrences and media spin into demure domestic objects of quaint design and questionable comfort. News products designed for a momentary frisson of engagement are rendered into soft edged but durable monuments that outlive the typical transitory lifespan expected of such unpalatable printed exclamations. Only, perhaps, by virtue of their fleeting existence – bought one day and consigned to the garbage the next - do we routinely tolerate the raging excesses of the contemporary newspaper industry. Plush and tactile as the finished works might be they defy any but the hardiest to cozy up to them. Sweetheart cushions they are not."
