Wood??

The Italian Ceramic Tile company, Provenza has launched a beautiful new line of ceramic tiles that look just resembles wood. The W-Age ceramic tile line, as it is called, not only looks like real wood, but comes in unique colors, surfaces and patterns.

W-Age would work well in any area of the house. It can be installed on the walls or floors to add contemporary style to any room.

Founded in 1975, the Provenza product line evolved from single-fired to porcelain tiles. The tiles have always been inspired by nature. This distinct characteristic made Provenza well known not only in the ceramic coverings sector but also in the great world of interior design.

robot.

While zipping around SoHo, NYC yesterday, I had the pleasure of stopping into the CB2 store. Amongst the fun and vibrant furnishings was this cool robot. I have always had a fondness for metal toy robots, so finding this guy was a pleasant surprise. The hot bot is made from antique-finished recycled iron and has moveable arms. At his non-human heart beats a salvaged non-working meter. Each unique piece is just $19.95. CB2.com

The Octopus Chair.

This is not necessarily just a chair. It is a work of art. I have posted it here because it is just so over-the-top that I simply could not resist. It will not be found in any of my upcoming projects, however, the creativity behind this chair is what fascinates me. According to Maximo Riera, the artist who designed this chair, "The Octopus Chair is the first piece of the Animal Chair collection, and it establishes a base and point of departure for the pieces to come. The Animal Chair collection constitutes a diverse range of species, from mammals to reptiles, and even including insects. Each creation retains the animal's natural vitality whilst being totally biological accurate in their appearance. This collection is homage to these animals and the whole animal kingdom which inhabits our planet, as an attempt to reflect and capture the beauty of nature in each living thing."

Blue and White.

B
lue and White is always a sharp, bold, sophisticated color combination that never goes out of style. As we move through January, consider pairing blue-and-white in your home. It would definitely provide a fresh beginning to the New Year. Here are some upholstered furniture pieces that I am fond of. I am also a fan of the Palm Harbor bedding collection from Lauren by Ralph Lauren. The elegant ceramic motifs that graced 18th-century Chinese porcelains are beautifully emulated in the crisp and tailored blue-and-white linens.

From Wisteria. I love the pairing of the silver garden stool with the settee.

Dismembered Baby Doll Coat Rack.

It's a bit creepy but kind of cool as well. The baby doll coat rack is definitely a whimsical way to hang scarves, coats, hats, etc. This is certainly not the average coat rack. It may make a interesting conversation piece along with a Pop Art collection in an interior that is very contemporary in nature. The artist is happy to customize this coat rack by contacting her here.

Be Safe.

This door chain is seriously designed to keep you safe! It requires an individual to carry the chain through a maze. I would suspect a nice sprinkling of paranoia would be a good motivator for someone to install the door chain maze lock system. I think it also happens to look kind of cool. It is a perfect example of how even something as simple as a door chain lock can be reworked, designed and stylized to function well and look quite unique.
