This interesting and somewhat retro looking wall shelf measures 48"w x 6.5"d x 17"h. It is made of solid walnut and comes in two wood finish choices - light and dark. I like this stylish shelf, with the two handy drawers as an alternative to the simple, somewhat boring shelves that are all too common. Octopus!

While shopping for Christmas presents last month I ran into an increasing amount of products with the imagine of an Octopus. As far as sea creatures go, the Octopus certainly has a very unique, somewhat bizarre look to it. Some individuals actually shy away from the Octopus, especially when dining out and confronted with an Octopus salad. I find these accessories and tabletop items whimsical, fun and refreshingly original. From designer, Thomas Paul there are such offerings as the Octopus oval platter, a pillow which is available in different colors, a serving bowl and even a shower curtain. They may make for a fun addition to the beach house or even as an accent piece while at home in the city. Regardless of where they find themselves, they are certainly quite different and bound to be the topic of many conversations.

Designed by Thomas O'Brien for Circa Lighting, the "Jack" Table Lamp is an absolute favorite of mine. It is available in both a Polished Silver or a Hand-Rubbed Antique Brass/Bronze. I like the Polished Silver for a very modern or sharp contemporary home. The Hand-Rubbed Antique finish has a lot of character that I think it would work well in a Transitional or Traditional style interior. That is not to say that things cannot be mixed up a bit to create an eclectic interior design that is enlightened by the personality of this special lamp. It is a sculptural and whimsical at the same time. Appropriately named, the "Jack" lamp, this light fixture clearly reminds me of a game of Jacks. Quirky. Different. Unique and Fun. This lamp is all that and then some.

This simple triangle-shaped ottoman, designed by Thomas O'Brien of Aero Studios, stands just 18" high by 19"wide and is just 16" deep. It is a charming piece that may be used in a variety of places in a home for many different purposes. Set in tune with 1950's style, this charming piece features conical tapered legs on Antique Nickel finish castors and caps. This ottoman would look beautiful grouped together in cocktail clusters in the living room. The ottoman may be used as a side table with a tray on top or placed neatly in a room for a handy extra seat. The top edge of the upholstery has delicate piping which adds a punctuation of sophistication and a degree of custom tailoring.

Hold on to your seat because these plates have some twists, turns, spirals and loops ahead. They provide "energy for the table" because the silver lines that adorn each plate create a striking pattern that has great fluidity, motion and movement. I think they would make fine dessert plates. Although I would keep the dessert simple because the plate is going to grab the attention. The silver plate set is from notNeutral. These Gold Crowned Stands from Cyan Design are whimsical and fun. I love the crown detail, the delicate and not too fussy shape of the stand and the functionality of the glass shelves. I can see these crowned stands adding a dash of whimsy to an Afternoon tea setting. They are perfect for holding clusters of finger sandwiches, crumpets and scones. Digitally Printed Pillows.

For those who crave floral patterns, these digitally printed floral designs are quite special. Silk is the canvas for the digital print that is patterned on these pillows. They are made in Paris and backed with a natural linen to complement the silk. A hidden zipper closure allows the pillow case to be removed for dry cleaning. A variety of sizes are available at ABC Carpet & Home Online. I am quite fond of the black floral pillow, (shown above). It is a floral pillow with a contemporary twist. The black background is elegant and sophisticated.

What a wonderful year it has been! To name a few accomplishments in 2011, I had the pleasure of being chosen to build and design a home to be featured on HGTV's upcoming hit new competition series "Showhouse Showdown". I relocated our offices to the former Chancery of Costa Rica on 19th Street - a charming old Victorian town home with a lot of character and personality. I also had the pleasure of contributing my creativity to the "Georgetown Jingle" - A charity that supports Pediatric Oncology Programs at Georgetown University Hospital. As always, and most importantly, it has been my continued pleasure working with my incredible clients throughout 2011. I know that 2012 will bring a flourish of fresh new ideas, inspiration and a ongoing celebration of beautiful design. I invite you to join me as the excitement and momentum continues. For now, please accept my Warmest Holiday Wishes... I look forward to returning to this blog in January 2012.... It is now time for a vacation. :-)

Foo Dogs.

It is no secret that I love the color Lime Green. It is also no surprise that I am fond of Asian accents in a home. Particularly, Foo dogs. Today, I ran into these beautiful Foo Dogs on One Kings Lane. In Lime Green Porcelain. They are absolutely beautiful, elegant and also serve a very important purpose. If I may borrow the words from the One Kings Lane website, "Foo dogs - the lion-dogs often seen flanking entrances of important buildings, are Eastern relatives of gargoyles and griffins. Just as their Western relatives guard cathedrals and buildings, scaring away evil spirits, their deadly fangs, talons, and leering grins suggesting "I had a lovely time with the last one of your kind who happened by this way", the Foo Dogs guard Buddhist temples, their expressions full of beneficence afforded to those whose might is never in question."

I recently broke a Turquoise Foo Dog from the 1920's that sits in my home. Although he was promptly repaired, I must say I am itching for some Lime Green Porcelain.

I love the rustic, vintage appeal of these unique heirloom quality decorative accessories from Evergreen. The iron and glass candleholder, (above), would look beautiful set on a fireplace mantle for the holidays. The crackled canister, (below), has a fleur-de-lis lid that is just charming. I love Porcelain Foo Dogs set together as a pair or individually. They have always been considered protectors of the home. I especially love when the porcelain work of art is given it's own nifty, vibrant and eye-catching presence by painting it any color other than blue, white or brown, or blue or white and/or maybe yellow. Mandarin Orange is cool. It wil add a splash of color into a traditional room while twisting up the modern simplicity of a contemporary interior design. It will also be a bring and smart color foil to my office which is painted in a Navy High Gloss. It's fun to play with interior design. I want to play with two orange Foo Dog Sculptures and I want then the sparkle in vibrant citrus unlike the majority of the beautiful art pieces that are available. The Foo Dog is the guarder of the home. It should be imposing and vibrant and regal and sophisticated, Of set out course, such a Naturally the design and detailing is to be appreciated, but it is the unique color of the two porcelain pieces that aid the snap and sophistication to punctuate just the right interior design. Useful, tasteful and now I found them in orange for only the accessory that gives it just that extra special 'punch". Sometimes it is the accessories in a room that really pull it all together - adding balance, punch, excitement, sophistication and a completely new and fresh outlook on how to place something with great meaning or just plain beauty.

A bit about the Foo Dog - "A Foo Dog, also known as an Imperial Guardian Lion, Fu Lion, Lion of Buddha or Stone Lion, is a common symbol that represents the lion in pre-modern China. The lion is believed to possess protective powers. The lions traditionally were presented at the entries of Chinese Imperial palaces, temples and the homes of officials and wealthy individuals. In Japan a similar lion symbol is used and is known as "shishi" or Snow Lion."

It's been around for quite some time. It is classic, tailored, refined and currently enjoying a revival. It is one of my latest clothing fascinations. It's different, unexpected, and not ordinary. It is a mark of distinction. It's fun and not everyone can pull it off. Or I should say, not everyone will care to pull it off. It is the Club Collar and I think it is quite cool.

Originally, part of Eaton College's dress code the club, (also known as the golf collar) was popular in the early decades of the 20th century. The rounded club collar is having quite a resurgence this Autumn. More traditional clothiers to the avant garde fashion houses are showing this collar. Dare to be different. I wear them with contrasting bow ties or just a pair of jeans and casual shoes.

Iron End Table.

I am fond of this dramatic, sculptural end table from Festoni. It is completely made of iron and is sold without a glass top - or any table top for that matter. The table would look great with a simple glass top, or perhaps a stone table top like a travertine, limestone or granite. A honed stone top would be my preference since the table has a somewhat rustic quality to it.

Festoni is known for finding inspiration for their furnishings from Moorish tiles, rococo wood carvings, Ming Dynasty tables and Venetian glass. Their line is composed of furniture, lighting, and unique decorative home accents.

In her Washington Post Home and Design Magazine Feature Article, Writer Nancy McKeon takes us on a tour of some of Washington, DC's former embassies that have now become private residences. I am pleased to be a part of the feature. I recently moved from a penthouse apartment which was the Ambassador to the United States from New Guinea. The space was a very dramatic condo in a magnificent section of DuPont Circle. Surprisingly, I was told that my current residence, not too far in distance from my former home, was, at one time,. the Chancery of Costa Rica. I never set out to find former embassies to live in. However, Nancy's feature is certainly interesting and makes for a lovely contribution to the Washington Post Fall Home and Design Magazine. I invite you to explore further.

Art on a Budget.

Original art can sometimes be rather expensive. I believe that walls should have an application of paint that works well with the furnishings of the room. The walls typically will benefit from some type of art as well. Upon a recent visit to BoConcept in Georgetown, I was excited to see some inexpensive pieces of art that particularly appealed to me. More often than not, art that has been reproduced may not always look that fantastic. However, the pieces that BoConcept had in their "gallery" were quite attractive. Here are just three examples of what I saw. I have a special love of anything with robots, so the robot photo art is definitely a favorite.

I recently completed filming the Washington, DC - National Harbor episode of HGTV's "Showhouse Showdown". I am very excited to see the season premiere TONIGHT at 10:00pm EST on HGTV.

"In each episode of Showhouse Showdown, two professional interior designers take over two newly built houses with mirror-image floor plans. Transparent.

This wood table is creative and unique in a very big way. It's transparent. The studio Nendo from Japan created this table. It’s made of clear acrylic in a wooden form with a heavy grain. The table is available in clear or black. Each of the tables have specific and different optical effects. When first looking at the black table it appears to be solid wood, but upon a closer look reveals its transparency, while the clear table is the transparent at first glance, and only later reveals its wooden form.

Charcoal.

My latest fascination is with interior walls painted a Charcoal. While Charcoal Grey is certainly acceptable, I do not mind seeing the walls heading more toward a deeper Charcoal tone. I love the way this paint color adds instant sophistication and drama to a space. It also enables all of the furnishings set inside the room to really stand out against the deep painted backdrop. My bedroom is now painted Charcoal. It's smashing.

Euro Tropiques Platter Plate

The small details on Bernardaud's Euro Tropiques Platter Plate intrigue me. First of all, I like the delicious deep crimson colors on white found on the plate. I then like the twist of the snake design and the overall shape of the platter. I look at this as a "jewel piece" for the table. It's an interesting platter that is versatile and may be combined with many different table settings. I would love to see this plate paired with a grouping of crisp white dinner plates and white linen napkins piped with the crimson color found in the plate. This is a conversation piece. A lovely way to allow French porcelain to spark some interest at the dinner or luncheon table. The plate is available at Barney's New York for $480.00.. As mentioned, it is Authentic French porcelain from Bernardaud. Brazilian designers, the Campanas Brothers, have collaborated to produce this unique platter plate that measures 11.4"d. It is made in France.

Retro Style Graffiti Furniture.

Capri is the latest work of Portobello Street. They are mainly storage pieces of furniture - a sideboard and cupboard. One of the focal different of these furniture is their retro style graffiti. Paris, in the year of the classical Formula-1 races, has become the inspiration for the designer to decorate the furniture with the graffiti. While the furniture is traditional in style, the graffiti was done in retro style. The addition of the graffiti to these pieces of furniture gives them a fun, modern edge. The furniture is made of cherry wood, with glossy silver or other specialty finishes.

Hand-blocked wallpaper.

I have a secret fascination with hot pink. Something about this wild wallpaper from

Oneiric design inspires me. According to their website this is a "Hand-blocked, ochre block ink on pink day-glo wallpaper stock. The combination of colors in this wallcovering make it a living, dynamic presence in the rooms it occupies, changing dramatically with the changes in the ambien light of day into evening. Also available in a variety of custom block inks on several day-glo fields." How about trying something like this in a powder room? Certainly a big surprise for a small room.

Ko Table.

The Ko Table by Element Design was created in the image of a Canadian forest. It feels as if you are sitting in a forest looking at branches in a lake. Because each piece of furniture is carefully carved by hand, none of them are exactly the same. The table is made from rich Walnut and supports a 12mm tempered glass top. It is finished with a delicate organic oil.

The Cove Ceiling.

While the design feature is certainly not new, my infatuation with the Cove ceiling is. Simply defined, a cove ceiling is a style of ceiling characterized by curved molding that joins the wall and ceiling, creating a transition between the two and eliminating sharp corners. This design requires technical skill to execute, which typically makes cove ceilings more expensive and more common in luxury homes or homes built at the time when manual labor was less costly. In addition to being an interesting design feature, a cove ceiling can also be used in some creative ways. Two of my favorite ideas is to paint the ceiling a contrasting color from the rest of the room, leaving the cove molding the color of the trim throughout the room. If the room can handle it, I love to use a metallic silver leaf paint to achieve this. I also like to light the cove ceiling by installing either florescent or LED lighting inside the cove molding so that it illuminates the entire interior of the ceiling. The look is dramatic, sophisticated and very elegant.

Horse Lamp.

I can always count on Moooi to deliver some of the most wild, whimsical and unusual twists on the expected. This is the Horse Lamp from Moooi. This piece would bring sharp attention to the interior design of a room. I would actually love to see the reaction of an individual encountering such a lamp in a contemporary loft or an art collector's home. This is not your everyday piece and I certainly do not have one on order for one of my next design projects. But it is fun, fun, fun. Sometimes an outrageous lamp, such as a life size horse is not only enough to spark conversation, but it may encourage some jaw-dropping responses.

According to Moooi, "The Horse lamp by Front is faithful to the true dimensions of the animal bringing a touch of nature in fairytale style and genuine madness. Kickball was never a favorite gym activity of mine growing up. I never gave the game much consideration until this past December. It was at that time that a friend, shared his great enthusiasm with me for the game. But what happens should a kickball, the primary object of the game, get deflated? A possible answer is to first examine why the ball got deflated in the first place. Once that is determined, you place your disappointment to the side and reinvent things.

The kickball planter is certainly a idea. A reinvention. It is functional and a great way of taking a deflated kickball and allowing it to become something new. It keeps the deflated ball from being tossed into a landfill. It may not be the perfect, gorgeous home accessory. But, it captured my attention. That is why this kickball planter is "blog worthy".

Sometimes it is so much easier to have a decorative accessory do the dirty work of saying what you cannot easily say but really want to. A pillow poised quietly on the sofa or a chair is a far more attractive way of establishing house rules than posting some sort of sign. Poetry Rug.

This Poetry Indoor/Outdoor rug available through Gump's San Francisco is certainly one of the more interesting selections I have seen this season. The rug, which is available in several sizes, including a 23" runner, is Jacquard-woven from polypropylene. This synthetic material is perfect for use outdoors because it resists mildew, mold and fading. It may be cleaned by simply spraying it down with a hose. The unique part of this rug definitely has to be the design. Words from a French poem by Jean de La Fontaine traverse this easy-care tan rug in blue script, creating a design that mixes easily with other patterns and colors.

I like the modern sophistication of the Running Ridge End Table from Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman. The clean lines of the table base are a lovely foil to the fluid oval table top. This table is a sculptural study in geometry. I would place just one strategically in a room where it would serve as a delicious "jewel piece". The table measures 26" w x 18" d x 25" h and is available to the trade.

When I hear Wicker, Rattan or Cane furniture I sometimes flinch, unless it is done right. Here are two chairs from Bielecky Brothers, that are beautifully made and have a sophisticated, modern edge. They are made from Cane, which according to the Bielecky Brothers website, "is the skin of the rattan plant, which is peeled off to be used for wrappings and winding over hardwood or solid rattan frames. It can also be woven for seats or surface texture. It is relatively non-porous, and always retains its naturally mottled surface." I would not mind seeing a chair or two mixed into an eclectic setting with other pieces of wood, glass and metal furnishings. Throw in some sumptuous fabrics and great prints and I think it would be a great look.

It is not always necessary to spend a lot of money to obtain great style. This floor and reading lamp from IKEA is sophisticated, contemporary and looks great for just $90.00. The Stockholm lamp is available in Nickel, Black and White. As an added benefit, this lamp uses LEDs, which consume up to 80% less energy and last 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs. I would enjoy seeing this floor lamp integrated into almost any setting.

A Perfect Curved Sofa.

The Sylvie Curved Sofa from William Yeoward is a classic piece that has been upholstered in a way to give it some great punch. I am fond of the colors, the pattern and texture and the contrasting pillows. This is a terrific piece for a smaller living room. The curve gives it a nice spin. The piece is available in several different wood finishes and, of course, it may be upholstered in almost any choice of fabric.

Mid-century modern Danish design is remixed in this Copenhagen chair from Restoration Hardware. The chair is available in several different variations, including leather on hide, all leather and leather on aluminum. The leather is hand-distressed for softness and vintage appeal. Each one-of-a-kind chair swivels 360 degrees and also tilts backwards. The chair sits elegantly on an aluminum base. I think the chair looks great paired together in a drawing room, (as shown below), or poised by itself in a contemporary or transitional interior.

I'm quite fond of Jonathan Adler's Wasp Pillow. This whimsical creation is handmade 100% wool needlepoint. It has a lovely velvet back and comes complete with a down stuffer. It measures 12" x 16". I think it would be a nice unexpected detail anywhere a dash of color and sting is desired.

Plume Chandelier.

It's certainly not the traditional style chandelier one would expect from Baccarat, however, this Plume Chandelier, caught my interest. Designed by Savinel & Roze, this contemporary crystal creation might look quite smashing in just the right dining room. The detail that I like the most is the single red crystal that hangs from the very base of the fixture.

This playful and cheery Sabina Lantern is designed by Amanda Nisbit for the Urban Electric Co. There are various finishes for the body and for the accents. The version here is shown in polished nickel with Forest Moss circles. Forest Moss is a color taken from the Benjamin Moore paint collection. I was recently watching something on television and saw this Shell Chair. The chair was designed in 1963 by Danish design legend Hans Wegner. This chair looks as cool today as it did in 1963. It can instantly add a retro 1960s flair to any office, lounge, or home. The Shell chair is made from bent plywood, with a wide, wing-like seat, tapered legs - of which there are only three. This chair is all about reclining back and relaxing. It is also great looking.

I am not a huge fan of Four-poster beds. That is until I ran across Ted Boerner's Totem Four-Poster Bed. It is a fantastic combination of both traditional and contemporary styling. Something I am drawn to and employ in my own work. Each of the posts have a very cool groove like design which resembles the end of a screw. The headboard also has this detailing. It's sort of industrial in a way. The bed is available in white oak, cherry and maple wood. There are several finishes to choose from. It is shown here in walnut with a dark finish. This finish gives the piece a delightful richness while the groove detailing provides texture and that contemporary detail.

For a unique contemporary twist, I like the idea of eliminating a bedside table and placing one of these cool chairs. Helios is a modern chair designed by Spigoli Vivi. It's possible to use this chair as a nightstand because the chair’s seat is flat and there is a light in the chair’s back. The chair is made entirely of wood and is an uncomplicated and very simple and modern design. This is a piece of furniture that serves several purposes at once. It would also work well in a small living space where space is at a premium.

What is typically a common fixture in many kitchens can become and abstract sculpture by using strong geometrical forms and pure white color. The kitchen hood pictured here is the work of architects Lhoas & Lhoas. They created this unique hood as part of the renovation of a typical Brussel's home.

I am quite fond of Bruck Lighting's "Flight System" or "Flight Rings" for use in certain commercial applications. The rings are available in different diameters and may be mounted on the ceiling or hung on suspended track systems. The rings, which are made of aluminum come with individual lamps, mounting and power feed. The rings may also be joined to a larger track system to create very dramatic effects.

This luxurious wood chandelier is made of discarded extras from local mills. The Branches Crystal chandelier is adorned with Swarovski Crystals that drip from the tips of the branches. The branches lighting system follows the pattern of growth found throughout nature and mathematics. Branching between nodes connected with salvaged hardware it reaches out from a central stem. Low voltage halogen lamps illuminate the Swarovski crystals. hese branches are moslty made of walnut. The chandelier is available with or without crystals and in a variety of sizes.

I like these fun clocks because of their 'robotic' feel and their silly antics. They are whimsical and fun and are certainly not to be taken too seriously. They add a splash of charm, a dash of silliness and are a great way to help start a conversation. The clocks have darling names and also have a few surprises. The clock above is called "Clocky". Both "Clocky" and "Tocky", (shown below), perform tricks. They will actually jump from your nightstand and roll away to get you out of bed. These are clocks of great action. There is no passive sleep button here. Additionally, Tocky is able to upload MP3s so you may wake to your favorite music. You can even wake up to a recording of your mom's voice. Good Morning!

While zipping around SoHo, NYC yesterday, I had the pleasure of stopping into the CB2 store. Amongst the fun and vibrant furnishings was this cool robot. I have always had a fondness for metal toy robots, so finding this guy was a pleasant surprise. The hot bot is made from antique-finished recycled iron and has moveable arms. At his non-human heart beats a salvaged non-working meter. Each unique piece is just $19.95. CB2.com

The Octopus Chair.

This is not necessarily just a chair. It is a work of art. I have posted it here because it is just so over-the-top that I simply could not resist. It will not be found in any of my upcoming projects, however, the creativity behind this chair is what fascinates me. According to Maximo Riera, the artist who designed this chair, "The Octopus Chair is the first piece of the Animal Chair collection, and it establishes a base and point of departure for the pieces to come. The Animal Chair collection constitutes a diverse range of species, from mammals to reptiles, and even including insects. This door chain is seriously designed to keep you safe! It requires an individual to carry the chain through a maze. I would suspect a nice sprinkling of paranoia would be a good motivator for someone to install the door chain maze lock system. I think it also happens to look kind of cool. It is a perfect example of how even something as simple as a door chain lock can be reworked, designed and stylized to function well and look quite unique.

While I may not suggest placing a collection of rare books close to the flame, the 'Helios' Fireplace from CosiHome is very cool. Ignited with a remote control, the flame is protected by 8mm of safety glass. This book shelf would work well in a contemporary space where there is a good deal of ventilation, space and the understanding that it is probably best to keep books and objects far to the left side. This piece will certainly spark some interesting conversation.

Vintage Steamer Trunks.

These steamer trunks can be used for a variety of purposes. They would look great as a lamp table, coffee table, lining trunk or stunning storage solution. I like this handsome charging station from Ralph Lauren. The rectangular box is elegantly rendered from smooth calfskin and finished with polished nickel detail for a modern look. The dual level box keeps belongings and electronics neatly in order. There is a base to charge a mobile phone with a back clip to conceal any cords. A handy drawer at the bottom can stow accessories and keys. This elegant charging station would look excellent on a gentleman's dresser... especially mine.

Making an Entrance.

I believe that even the actual entrance to a room should be beautiful. Lualdi, is know for creating sharp, attractive and sophisticated doors. Recently, they unveiled a collection of doors by renowned American Architects and Designers. The door pictured here is by David Rockwell. According to Lualdi, "David Rockwell uses sumptuous materials to form a door that is both highly crafted and entirely modern. Made of a rich walnut, either dark or bleached, with a brushed antique bronze frame, the significant feature of the door is the handle, a vertical bar wrapped in leather, which runs its entire length. Inspired by Rockwell’s design for the hand-carved entrance doors to the Chambers Hotel, the handle introduces guests to the sensory, tactile experience of the space. One version of the door features a thin metal frame along the edge that can be specified in a variety of metals to complement the veneer choice. A second version makes a bolder statement with a vibrant pop of color applied to a horizontal strip that divides the door in half."

I have been finding things lately that are just plain whimsical and fun. The unexpected has also been something I have been attracted to. Such is the case with these cool lamps from Carpenters Workshop Gallery. The lamps are artistic creations that are made of bronze and have been produced in an extremely limited number. You may choose the Crane lamp symbolic of building or creation, or the Wrecking Ball lamp, symbolic of tearing down or destruction. These lamps would be a smashing addition to the corporate offices of any construction firm.

Keith Haring Chairs.

Keith Haring (1958-1990) was an artist and social activist who was first recognized for the chalk drawings he did in the subways of NYC. Haring was greatly inspired by graffiti art, which you can clearly see by looking at one of his most famous drawings: "the radiant baby", (above). Manufacturer, Vilac, has created a variety of products that were inspired by Keith Haring's art. The great colorful graphics on these wooden chairs by Haring make them bold, whimsical, artistic, nostalgic and are sure to look great in any kid's room. They would also work well as a single "jewel piece" set perfectly in a contemporary or modern home. In fact, I can think of a dozen more places these chairs would feel right at home...

I really like the new BeoSound 8 from Bang & Olufsen. If you keep your music on an iPad, iPhone, iPod, or computer, you are essentially all set to discover the iconic and breathtaking sound that has made Bang & Olufsen one of the most sought-after names in home audio. It is possible to move the BeoSound 8 from room to room or hang it on a wall. All you need is a power outlet and your music player of choice. The speakers are a conical shape that seem to 'disappear' to create an unobtrusive impression from most viewing angles and make placement easier.
